Scandinavian design inspiration with BoConcept

I always have a project on the go, and my next project in our house is the lounge. It is a good-sized room, has a large window so it lets in lots of light, and up until recently had one dark blue wall. That is the first thing that I changed. With so many interior ideas and wants, I thought it best to put together a mood board so I can get it right. I’ve started with a blank canvas by freshly painting all of the walls and woodwork white, and I am looking for a relaxed Scandinavian, mid-century feel to the room. Lots of neutral colours, textures, and a cosy, relaxed vibe.

BoConcept is one of the stores that I have been looking at, brought to my attention on a recent trip to Glasgow. With a quick website search for furniture stores in Glasgow, I was delighted to find BoConcept has stores in Buchanan Galleries and Princes Square. BoConcept started back in the fifties in Denmark, and specialises in contemporary Danish design furniture, accessories and lighting. And, whist in the process of planning my lounge redesign, I’ve been stalking the website for inspiration.

Ideally I am looking to update my sofas, and this one caught my eye – the Osaka in cream Leeds fabric. This is perfect as it is a slim style, with a 1960s design. In fact, I can’t stop thinking about it. Imagine it with subtle contracting cushions and a throw. It has all of the elements that I’m looking to incorporate into my lounge, the neutral colour palate, the texture and the elegant Scandinavian mid-century style.

Another area that I am looking to improve, is our lighting. We already have a centre ceiling light (if you are reading this from Scotland, the “big” light!), a curved standard lamp, along with a couple of table lamps which are old, and out of keeping with my style aim. I am in love with the Stockholm table lamp, the rose coloured glass, with the white marble base is simple and wouldn’t look out of place in any Scandinavian inspired home. It’s a contemporary piece with a minimalistic feel.

To get the right feel in the lounge, it’s all about the finishing touches. I am looking for a cosy ambience, think lots of cushions, throws, wall hangings. Anything with texture really. And, these cord cushions incorporate all of those elements. They come in beige, light grey, forest green and yellow. My only question to myself is would I like a few cushions in one colour, or one of each? That’s a difficult choice as all of the colours are lovely.
